V70 2004 I just lost drive.

On the hiway at 70mph it started to feel funny, almost wobbly, I pulled over, no loose wheels.
Got back in and it will not move, nor shift into park, car keeps rolling. I'm on a slight hill. Engaged ebrake for now. I can hear a sort of ratcheting sound when engine is running, noise is located from ttans for sure.

AAA is on its way, 60 minute arrival.
Drat. I'm wondering if dropping the subframe caused a Trans shifter problem.

I suspect dropping the subframe for the steering rack might be the cause, routed the shift cable wrong by the steering shaft. Sounds like it's not quite engaging. I wonder if the cable popped off at the trans.

Might it be that one of the axles’ splines got pulled loose from differential?

Yes, considering I had the axle out for a week fixing the inner boot clamp, drivers side.... thats a real possibility, I hear a faint ratcheting sound in all gears, no sound in neutral or park but P will not engage. So yeh, thats a candidate. this was the real drive since reinstalling the CV shaft 3 days ago.

Tow came, I'm home, I pushed the car into the garage with the tractor, I'll get it on the rack and see.

Can the MVS community determine the axle engagement so a mark can be made on the axles before install? The mark would ideally indicate the axle has been fully installed?
This happens too often and even when done correctly adds unease to axle work.

You know its in right because there is zero gap between the steel cup and the trans seal.
Theres a 1 inch gap before the clip is engaged.
Hold the inboard cup straight with your left hand and use the outer end as a slide hammer to bang it home, if it won't go, disengage and rotate the shaft a few degrees and try again, I got it on the 3rd try.
