It's probably a short in your airbag circuit. Best to take it in and let the dealer look at it. Even if we can repair it, we can't turn off the SRS warning light.

I am in the middle of the same problem with my 2000 S-80 T6. My independant garage scanned it and detected both the driver and passenger seat belts had a "permanent fault" code. Meaning that the switches built into the seat belt catches, part # 9191817-7 (either side of the center console with the orange button) had been erratic and now non-operative. I bought 2 from Volvo dealer ($75.81 each) and scheduled a $90.00 diagnostic session to clear the light and "Initialize" the new parts. Apparently the belt catches have to work for the srs system to work. You can drive the car but the srs system will not operate in the event of a crash. My center dash light (! in a triangle) is lit as well. The color is orange meaning "caution". If it is red in color, like when you are idiling with a door open, it means "do not drive vehicle". I was able to change the catches from the rear seat with the front seat all the way back. The star socket and ratchet won't fit, the center console interferes, so I used Channellocks.Torque to 35 ft/lbs if you want to unbolt the seat. Hope this helps
Following up on above. Fault code still present after new seat belt catches installed. Mechanic now says ignition switch probably sending low voltage and that needs to be replaced. I questioned him why I bought new seat belt catches if that was not the problem. He reasoned that the time to troubleshoot was equal to just replacing and the benefit is we have eliminated that possibility and the catches are prone to fail in time anyway. So we ordered a new ignition switch, $47 parts and $150 labor. He agreed that if that did not fix problem he would remove and shelf new part, reinstall existing switch at no cost. He would then examine wiring harnesses.
