Just got a 85 240 and would like to know whats the differance between a 3 speed auto and a 3 speed auto with electric o/drive. As in what revs would i loose at 100kph/60 mph. My old 81 did 3,400 rpm at 100 kph, thanks

The '81 240 was fitted with a BW55 auto box with gear ratios: 1st 2.45:1, 2nd 1.45:1, 3rd 1.00:1.

The '85 240 was fitted with an AW70 or AW71 (turbo model) auto box with gear ratios: 1st 2.45:1, 2nd 1.45:1, 3rd 1.00:1, Overdrive 0.69:1.

I calculate you should drop to about 2400 rpm to maintain 100kph in overdrive.
