I don't know what I'm going to use to cover the circuit board once this little project nears completion...any suggestions???
I just smeared on some silicone caulk from Lowe's on the top of the PC board and it has worked fine thus far.

It sounds like that is what the last person did and I guess if it needs further attention it won't peel of as nicely as the factory membrane.

Good luck with it,

Ok everyone, I need your guidance. I have a 2000 S80 T6 with DSTC. I am getting all of the same "brake failure, stop ASAP", triangle warning light, brake warning light, trip meter reading "-----", odometer not changing, etc. All of the symptoms that possibly indicate a failing ABS module.

So, I had mine removed (not mechanicall inclined) while having the turbos replaced (ouch, $3,500) and timing belt replaced (might as well). Side note, please, use synthetic oil in your engines with turbos. Lesson learned, prior owner ran conventional motor oil and cooked the turbo seals. I digress.

I had the module sent to Victor. He was not able to help. Apparently, I have a DSTC ABS module and Victor was unable to repair. I then called Module Master, who also was not able to repair my module. So - I have it back, packaged in a nice box with bubble wrap, waiting......

Please, anyone with experience with one of these, please help. Is my DSTC module that much different from the STC modules out there?

Thanks in advance!

Apparently so....I would check bone yards for a wrecked S80 with the same module still intact.
But, is this really your problem? Could it be wheel sensors that simply need cleaning?

MIJ - Thank you. Does this mean that the DTSC units are non-repairable? Do you have access to a procedure for cleaning the wheel sensors?

I "self diagnosed" the problem based on the information contained here and on other's websites. Could it be as simple as cleaning some wheel sensors?

Thanks!

Could be...I'd have to dig that information up as I don't have it readily available... Have to got to work this afternoon so it will be evening. Hopefully before that, someone else will post.

Hi guys.

I read through all the posts up until the last page and realised my brother is not the only one who's box can probably not be repaired...

Attached are 2 photo's of how his 2003 model S60 T5's ABS box looks inside... as you can see there is no soldering... how to fix this one?!

I cant believe that it is IMPOSSIBLE to fix...i mean, as my brother said, componenets rarely fail, its mostly the power supply of the components that fail, or develop dry joints because of heat/stress.

I also drive an 2001 S60, also started with the same ABS errors.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone attempted to repair the ATE ABS controller in the 94.5 and prior 850 models? (externally mounted metal cased ECU, above brake booster).

My 94 850 has been illuminating the ABS/Tracs lights off and on for quite sometime now, and I was going to attempt the repair. Mine has the external ecu and if nobody has documented this with pictures, I will keep my camera handy to show the inside of this unit. I have done the ATE ABS repair on my 98 V70 (Module attached to the pump unit) with no problems, so this should be similar.

The early version ABS controllers rarely fail. Most of the problems with the early system are due to wheel sensor connections, etc. Pull the codes from port A-3 and post them back.

I was about to do this job on my 94 850 turbo, when I saw this - so is it likely to be something other than the ABS module?? No ODBII codes, will ODBI codes will still be thrown ?

Thanks
