pvc system disconnected caused oil leaks

Post by fasttaxi »

93 940, 8 valve NA. The cam seal was leaking really bad, my concern was oil getting on the timming belt. I talked to a volvo mechanic and was told the flame trap (pcv system) maybe clogged. After some investigation with repair manual and internet I found the system was disconnected. I got a flame trap kit with housing filter and hose. The hose was near impossible the connect because of location, under the intake manifold. The replacement hose seemed to small to fit over the nipple, with no room to get my hand in there to push enough to help. I found a 5/8" garden hose works great, slides on and seems tight enough, then the flame trap filter housing also slides right in snug enough also. My cam seal leak is still leaking but has slowed a surprised amount. Know flame trap maintennance on these Volvos for sure,
should you continue to own one.
