'04 XC90 - How to replace bulb behind radio presets?

Post by robk »

The radio in our XC90 has a built in CD changer, and radio presets to the left of the radio. At least one bulb behind the radio preset buttons is out, so the buttons are dark (mostly the upper buttons). How can I replace this bulb? Thanks, Rob

Welcome to MVS.
The first step is (I believe yours is the same set-up as our V70, but I'm not sure) to remove the pen holder under the ECC...then you'll have to remove the ECC and then the radio above it. I would do all of this with the battery cable pulled off so you don't get any SRS (seatbelt light- which the dealer will have to reset). Then I suppose you'll need to open the radio to see what the bulbs are. We're pretty familiar with older x70 Volvo's and their bulbs here at MVS, but don't know how the XC90 is set up. You will probably find better help over Here: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=22

Thanks, and for your very fast reply as well! I removed the pen holder but it revealed a plastic plate beneath - not sure if this is the same as your V70 or not. 2 pics are attached, one before and one after removing the pen holder. Thoughts? Thanks! Rob
