Volvo 850 1995 dashboard lights are out

Hi,
I am new to this forum so if I mess up please be patient.
My 1995 850 Turbo has lost its dashboard lights. I took it to my mechanic who did something that made the lights come on.
It lasted one day. I took it back and his answer was take it to a Volvo dealer. Does anybody have any suggestions?

hello,

%90 the electrical portion of the ignition switch is bad.its a common occurence in 850 series.replacing the ignition switch with a used or new one will solve the problem.

mine was the dimmer switch....find one in salvage yard...they are expensive
