removing S80 passenger door interior panel?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

removing S80 passenger door interior panel?

Post by bajaman123 »

I recently started having trouble with my front passenger window not working correctly, it almost seems like it is loose on the mechanism or something. I want to have a look at it but need to know the best way to get the interior door panel off.

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem not only with the front passenger window, but the rear one as well.

Welcome to MVS.
Before starting anything, make sure your car is off and key pulled out of the ignition.
If you'll look around the parameter of your door panel you'll notice little round tabs (6 in all, I think)...there is a post in the middle...push it in with a pen or something small and the tabs will pop out. Other than these, you'll need to pull the triangular piece that covers the side mirror housing off- be careful...you can break the tabs in it, so just pull it straight out. Next, you'll need to undo the screw under a little square tab in the door handle area (what you pull on from the inside to shut the door) and last, use a blunt knife (like butter knife) or a plastic trim/bone tool to pull the trim off from around the door latch itself. Now just lift up the panel and it will come up and off. Be aware that there are connectors in the panel that you may have to disconnect to move the panel out of the way- these are simple and you can reattach them without any problem when you put the door panel back.

Well as soon as I took the panel off and looked inside, the 2 cables that pull the window up and down where tanggled up in the motor wheel. I should be able to get just the cables right? or do I have to buy the entire assembly?

Looking at VADIS the cables are not separate so it looks like a new unit.

I have a 2000 s80. Are power window problems common? I had the dealer repair the driver window 2 years ago. It is broken again. Ditto the passenger window. It costs hundreds to fix. Whats up?

Hey Own2, I see your from STL, have you found a good repair
shop? I had a few bad experience w/brentwood (now weiss)
and west county is a mess. There's an independent on Watson
road but don't know about them.

I'm interested in your experiences with Weiss and Suntrup. What went wrong?
