04 2.4 S40 blower fan vibration

Hello, I have a late model s40 with the 5 cylinder. My blower fan is vibratingl. The dash vibrates as I increase the blower speed. I've checked the cabin air filter and it's clean...any ideas? If the squirrel cage is out of balance do you have a procedure on removing the blower motor? It looks like an 8 hour job....eek

Welcome to MVS.
2004 was a split year where the newer S40 is referred to as '04.5 so I'm not sure which one you have...if you have the older version then I can help you as I don't have information on the newer version. Anyway- here is the '04 instructions- not the '04.5 Hope it gets it...let me know.

Wow, that's wonderful information! Do you perhaps have the dash removal proceedure? And yes this is the late modle S40. Five cylinder 2.4.

Thank you vegasjetskier- the files were perfect. I got the fan out and found a rat had got into the squirrel cage and eatin an inch off 4 or 5 blades it looked like I had taken a bite out of the cage. Thanks for your help.

Haha! Glad you found the cause and hopefully the answer.
In the future, you have to feed him right and exercise that rat to keep him happy.
