Bad plugs can cause it as can a bad coil or a bad fuel injector. How does the car run?

If the car is running OK you can often just reset the code.

5 is the cylinder nearest to the transmission.

Here is another silly question... The owners manual has the firing order in it and it says 1,2,3,5,4. So does this mean that #5 is second closest to the transmission. I have a new coil pack coming for Cylinder 5.. i just want to make sure i install it on the right cylinder.. Thanks!

The cylinders are lined up in linear fashion.

On a North American car it is

Passenger's side----1--2--3--4--5---Driver's side

The firing order is the order in which the cylinders actually reach TDC on the compression stroke and the spark plug fires.

The codes refer to the actual cylinder location rather than the sequential firing order location.
