I would say any time a wack will fix the light issue, you have a bad connection.
But it is satisfying for a little while. It usually fixes the temperature and fuel level on my 240 Volvo.

Could be two issues? Make sure the front low beam wiring has not crumbled and loose. The second is to clean the brake pedal switch.
