Does anyone know whether the procedure (remove panel behind right rear seat) works for a 2001 XC70?

Thanks, it's helpful. I did see the canister from that hole but didn't check thorougly around if the hoses are accessible as well.

My 1998 V70XC, AWD, emissions code 4 (eighth digit in VIN), has the canister on left front behind bumper and in front of tire. Fuel filter, probably fuel pressure regulator and maybe rollover valve are at right rear over and around back axle with access from underside as well as removable access panel below floor inside the car behind the right rear seat (actually there are 2 access panels there above the fuel filter - one is easier to get to than the other).

I'm not sure if it is called a J hose, but there's something very J hoseish on top. I have a 98 AWD. I removed the driver's side corner light fixture and could then see and feel around the top of the canister. One of my hoses was badly cracked. I cracked it off completely, removed the battery and battery tray and was able to wiggle one end of the broken hose through the hole where the battery tray mounts. I had a piece of hard plastic tubing that snugly fit into the broken end of the hose. I inserted about 2 to 3 inches of hose into that broken end and clamped it with a screw type hose clamp. I then fished it back inside, inserted the other end of the plastic tube into the broken remains of the hose on top of the canister. I tried to make both ends of the broken hose sort of straight so that when I put the plastic part into the top of the canister I was then able to wrap it up a bit with electrical tape to hold it in place. A real jury rig I admit and done with about 95% feel but it is working and my EVAP went READY.

Does anyone know the designation of the "other" hose (not the "J" hose) that runs from the shut off valve rearward and connects to a solid pipe? See photos with a great crack in this "L" hose. Clearly needs replacing but I cannot find it anywhere. fcpeuro shows part 9443309 that looks like it might be right, but the description says it runs from the shut off valve to the evap canister. This definitely is not the connection I see on my car.

Try going to the Lisle Volvo parts site for the exploded diagram with part numbers..

This is what I found, but you need to put YOUR VIN in to get the right parts

Thanks. Looks like a good site. But entering the VIN doesn't lead anywhere. I also get a message that the vin is not valid at this site: https://www.volvotechinfo.com/index.cfm ... vindecoder . However, I've given this vin to the dealer and they are able use it to identify parts. No idea what is wrong with my vin. Is it 17 characters, begins with YVILW, etc.

Selecting by year, model, etc. yields a figure like the one you showed. I can't make any sense out of it. For example only one hose is shown connecting to the shut off valve when my car clearly has two. This might be due to a searching for a different model but seems unlikely since they are pretty similar and this is a pretty major difference.

I must be misinterpreting everything.

Have you got your Ones zeros , letter Eyes and ohs sorted right in your VIN/
