Well I got the OBD-II reader and the fault code is "P0172 Bank 1 system too rich". I did a quick search online and apparently it could be a number of things causing the engine to run to rich. Like an O2 sensor, or a faulty ignition system, or a bad MAF. This doesn't seem like anything too horrible though. Anybody run into this before with suggestions on where to look first? Thanks for all the help so far. I'm really liking the community around these things

Start searching for a vacuum/air leak. Start with the elbow that connects to the intake manifold behind the power steering pump.

Ignore the jury-rig (couldn't reach the flipping hose), but this is the location. That elbow has probably fallen off/deteriorated. If so, re-connect it and evaluate the health of the PCV system.

Not that I can find - sorry. Look in the little cranny behind the alternator - behind the thermostat/upper coolant hose. There's about a 3" space in there, and a vacuum hose should connect to a little port on the intake.

I think I found the line you were telling me about, mine doesn't have a clamp and its going the opposite direction. I also found a corroded hose that goes to the fuel injectors so that might be it

That looks like it - looks ok from here.

Yes, the fuel pressure damper hose does look like it's falling apart. Search around the engine bay - namely the vacuum tree and turbocharger area - for any falling-apart elbows like that and replace whatever is necessary. You can just use straight vacuum hose if you can't find elbows.

The interior/exterior look to be in very good shape. I love red Volvos.

Looks like it might have been owned by an enthusiast. That can be a good thing. Keep an eye out for modifications though. That's a nice looking old Volvo you've got there. You are on the right group too for resolving any issues that come up. They'll help you keep it running for the next 20 years.

That is the same year and color as mine! Great looking R!

Mine was a one owner, low mileage car and maintained at the local Volvo dealer very well but that doesn't mean there wont be minor issues. I have had a few minor issues but I don't expect too much in the "major service" department due to its great maintenance records.

This is probably a really dumb question, but how do I go about getting replacement vacuum lines and fuel lines. I don't even know if fuel lines is what their called.
