1996 850 Brake Bleed Nipple/Rubber Line Questions

Thanks guys. I'll just replace the bleed caps for now and keep an eye on the lines for bulging/leaking and replace them down the road. How much of a difference do the braided stainless steel vs rubber lines make on these cars?

I've never used the braided lines but people do say they firm up the pedal a little.

Just wanted to clean up some contradictory or uncertain points in this thread, here is a summary for future readers:

(1) Volvo's OEM front brake hose is made by ATE:

(2) In the DIY posted a few years ago, cn90 recommended ATE hoses (unknown what he actually used but it really doesn't matter, just trying to explain why people may be confused) https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=37721.

(3) ATE/Continental (http://www.ate-brakes.com/www/ate_de_en/) and FTE (http://www.fte-automotive.com/) are different companies.

(4) FTE brake hoses are also high quality, you can get front ones for about $18 each http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/43774/B ... ont-37050/.

Pelican parts has the ATE hose for $10.25
The good thing about knowing the hose is OE is because they have access to all the data Volvo gives them about vibration, stretch on hose, peak pressure: in this case they would know best as they make the master cylinder.

Not that FTE may make a very good hose, maybe even better than ATE, as the ATE hoses all gradually develop cracks in the sheathing but they don't seem to fail and it would be tough to truly know which is better
