Thanks for the link, xHeart. The only difference I saw between blue label and white label was brand, Boge/Sach respectively.

Both are well respected brands for shocks so I still wonder why blue(Boge) label shocks are preferred over white(Sach) labeled shocks.

The front struts on my v70xc are Sachs with red/orange label. My homework with friend at Volvo parts pointed to choice of sports vs. touring vs. grand touring.

I understood red/orange to be touring and right choice for cross country with 16" rims.

Original struts and shocks in my 2005 were blue label.

I put all OE parts P/N matched with car's Product ID plate numbers and VIDA to have exact new Volvo ride quality. Well, with exemption of ball joints and strut mounts by Lemforder, and bump stop kits by Rein, which, I believe, are OEM. So the struts/shocks are blue label.
