thanks for all your help guys, just got home from running to the dealership and some other errands. I'll update my status on how it goes.

UPDATE: so after a day and a half of getting this thing slow and fighting with the on and off rain, got it all back together. took it for a quick 6 min spin around the block and no leaks ! that mean im good or do you have to drive for awhile to get the t stat to open ?

In this weather the t-stat is opening right up after just a minute. You should be good to go.

alright thanks all for getting me through this tedious job. the biggest pita was scotch-briting all the corrosion off the t stat housing for an hour and a half. hopefully ill never have to do the job again and can actually enjoy her
