Permatex Anaerobic sealant

Just a couple of more newb questions - should the Permatex sealant be rolled on the cam cover side only? Or both the cover and head sides? And is the sealant applied directly on the foam roller or on a roller tray?

I squish a little bit from the tube directly onto/across the little roller, then roll it on only one surface (just the cam cover not the head, just the oil pan not the block, etc). You really don't need much. When it stops applying from the roller to the cam cover, squish a little more onto the roller and keep going. Helps to make one tube go a long ways, too.

I save the roller between uses in its original packaging, the pink residue on the roller doesn't dry.
