Is the ajar signal on all the time? Try one more thing. Have the window down and close the door. If the ajar signal is on try locking the car with the key from the outside and see if the ajar signal goes away.
Yes, the ajar signal, for the driver's side door, is on all the time, either when I am driving or not.

Once I am able, I will try the recommendations you've suggested here. I too hope it is not an alarm module situation.
Take your time and don't forget the 2 Key issue on performing this  .

New development. I drove the car yesterday; I attempted to lock the doors. Now all of them will not lock. Does this have something to do with the alarm system?

When you say don't work, is it with the remote only or all methods (key, remote and button on window switches driver and passenger side)?

How about the dash warning, is it still on?

The dash warning stays on, indicating that the driver's side door is ajar and a red triangle with an exclamation point. It is with the remote and both the driver's side and passenger side are unable to lock the doors.

More Questions:

1) In the original post you mentioned battery. Have you replaced the car battery?
2) Replaced the remote battery?
3) Have you tried the first method suggested?
a) doors closed
b) car running driver's window open
c) while seated reach out to lock car with 2nd key to see if the dash warning will go out?
4) With the car running and you seated can you lock the car with either the driver's side or reaching over the passenger side window switch controls?
5) Did you ever or recently remove / unplug the driver's side window switch?
Blessings,

BKM
