Lots of Real Estate. The PCB is 6,828 mm² . You could forgo SMT ( Surface Mount Technology ) and use easier to work with, more robust DIP ( Dual Inline Packaging ) . Still have room left over for Christmas lights.

Or as we learned when when doing a satellite dish in the 80s, LRL ( Little Red Light ). LRL was on the front of the receiver panel. Went through the manual, scratched or heads. Among five electronics techs, Little Red Light was the best we could come up with. Today we have LRLs, LGLs, LBLs, LWLs, LYLs and a million other LXLs. :D
