Rotor arm is what it is called in the good old UK where I learned to wrench (spanner!) on vehicles!

Surprisingly, codes and symptoms remain after thorough cleaning of distributor parts.
Issue only seems to arise when in gear, at idle, with either foot on brake, or letting it crawl at idle speed. Then, it runs rough, jerks, vibrates, staggers. At driving speed or under full turbo load or at revs even past 5000, it runs great.
While driving, at intersections, when putting lever into N, idle stays stable, but at differing revs: about 900, 1200 or 1600.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Peter

You can still have bad wires after cleaning. I had a mystery just like yours that would happen at wierd times. It took a year to generate a misfire code. I dont know if you have a second set of known good spark plug wires to trade out one at a time and see the difference.

Have you checked all the various vacuum hoses for leaks?
Have you checked fuel pressure at rail? 42+ psi for your year.

I know in the US you can often rent the tools from some of the parts stores. I am not familiar with the stores but try Autozone or the likes.
Or you can usually get a quick test using a mechanical tire pressure gauge on the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail. Use a cloth around the tire gauge while pressing on the fuel rail and see what it gives you. It may not show 40+ psi but it should be close if all is well. A proper fuel system gauge is obviously better if you can borrow one.

Really? Does this ruin the tire gauge at all? This would make road side testing a little easier when you don't have access to the right gauge.scot850 wrote: ↑02 May 2022, 22:28 I know in the US you can often rent the tools from some of the parts stores.
