EGR Cleaning

Quick question, Does anybody know what size nut / thread(course/fine) is needed to screw onto the EGR?

I'm trying to blank out my EGR without having to remove it, so I plan to screw a SS nut on the end with a peice of SS welded around the nut to create a "cap nut"..

I recently romped on ym 850 and the car threw a egr code(154 ?) Im guessing that some carbon was nocked loose and cloged the egr valve

What i did a a quick fix it was
Took off the intake so i could reach in inspect /feal the egr hole for carbon. It wasnt so bad but I felt a chunk come off.
I then parked the car so the manifold was a little downhill a litle and removed the plastic vacuum T and put the intake back on and poured half a can of seafoam in

I then let the car soak over night and went out and drove it the next day the stutter idle is gone and the car is running smoother and quieter as quiet (as you can get a car with no cat lol)

Before doing this i had two codes, idle valve value to far out of limit ( or somthing like that) And EGR system leakage
im sure the EGR needs pulled and cleaned well but this did band air it for now.


I dod have a question though, when i took the intake apart there was a white/brown plastic honey comb peice attached to the intake and it was a little milk and nasty what is that for ?

That is the flame trap and all it does is serve to clog things up in the PCV system. The short answer is that it is meant to be thrown away and forgotten about. You can clean it up and put it back in if you want to but it will just clog up again.
