OK so the challenge to '99 V70/S70 owners is to buy a Vol-FCR setup and tell the interface it's a '98......Lucky should see a steady stream of customers from this one. :)

Almost every time I use my OBDII bluetooth adapter (ELM327) on my '00 V70 I get at least 2 or 3 cranks before it starts and then after reading with Dice/Vida it has an immobiliser code stored.

Otherwise first crank starting every time..:)

I know how you feel Lee. I went through EVERYTHING on my 94 850. I replaced almost every sensor, then I bought a used ECU on ebay for $50 and started right up.

I shipped the ECU and the parts car ECU to Lucky and had him clone the "new" car into the parts car ECU. Other than the battery being totally dead after months of being parked it starts first time and every time!

I have never had an ECU fail intermittently like that. For that matter, I have never had an ECU fail at all.

I sure am glad to have this one in the done column and it is just in time for the predicted snow storm.

Great news!

Lucky (Robert Arnold) runs ARD Tuning and they specialize in performance modifications to Volvos. He was with IPD for years and then a couple of years ago - it may have been a bit longer - he started ARD.

While he specializes in performance modifications to the ECUs, he was also able to clone my stock Bosch ME7 module into another stock ME7 module since the '99 and on cars have the entire identity of car programmed into the ECU and the other CAN bus modules. On the newer cars you can't just swap out one module for the other since all of the immobilizer codes are embedded in the module that was originally in the car.

Even with me sending the module in right before Christmas they turned it around quickly. Good people and good service.

This was 10 years ago, but did you try replacing the fuel pump relay? That can cause a no-start, especially in cold weather.
