I just thought i would add my two cents to the thread.

My sunroof was not closing properly and i thought it could be the weather stripping around the edge.

I discovered it was a broken lever which moves the sunroof up on angle position and closes it. Now this is not easily seen unless you tak off the sunroof and the support bar underneath.

I copied this from bay 13 and circled it. If you see it from the other side it actually is not one piece but two. The one in the picture is the metal part..the other side is a plastic part. I found that first my roof would not slide back and this was because there was a piece of the shatterer part jamming the track where the sunroof slides back.

I then found later that the roof was not closing in proper position and this also had to do with the broken part.

After i lubricated and removed the blockage on the track i found that the power sunroof did work.... and slid back..but i would have to try it over and over again. But i know if i keep this up i will eventually snap something else on that side. So i am working to get this off a new donor car.

Hope this helps ! (hmm how do i attach a pic?)

MIJ,
I need to replace the weather stripping on my sunroof and cannot locate it in FcpGroton's catalog. Can you direct me to where it is? Thanks a bunch!

I'll probably have to get you a part number and you'll have to call them with it. I'm looking for it but haven't found it yet. When I do, I'll post back.

Edit: Okay, I found the part number: #1390349

Good luck!

Off Topic here but I'll have to say I'm envious of Mike's 850 there. Isn't that a Turbo 'R' ? Your footnote doesn't mention it. Still cool to look at if not. The red 850s are great looking in person as well !

I really want one of those front spoilers for Christmas...any board members have suggestions since I don't have a chimney for Santa to get down? The plan for my white 850 is the pale yellow paint after I find the spoiler. The red is definitely a consideration though.

Back to the topic : Man, that picture by Matt of rust around the moonroof is scary! One of those times that my California emissions don't seem all that bad...:?

Hi Guys: I don't believe the 2 half moon shaped plastic parts are for holding the roof on under high speed conditions. MIJ reinstall them in your car with adhesive if necessary. They are for depressing the wind deflector so the rubber weatherstrip doesn't drag on the wind deflector with every operation of the roof. Best Regards, SpeedyPete :)

Here are some supplemental pictures of a 1998 V70 XC sunroof removal. Bay13 at VolvoSpeed already has good write-up.
Pull on the middle of the bottom plastic that shields the sunroof raising mechanism to pull it out of the track and then pop it up onto the top.
