I'd pass that R and get a cleaner 850 turbo instead.

@Oil leaks
When I bought my T5-R it looked worse underneath, the underside was oiled up to the exhaust from dripping oil. It was stupid to buy that, but it turned out well - was just the turbo oil line leaking and a bad oring in one of the trans cooler lines. Guess I was lucky.

I'd buy it if you are looking for a project, but not for an everyday driver. If it leaks that much it clearly was not taken care of that well... and there will be other repairs incoming (would be anyways).

Buy it. Deal with it. Do not split hair if you want the project.

Ask new questions when you get it home.

Guess I should update this... Ended up buying it! I think I got a good deal and it came with some extra parts he accumulated over the years and from various models so hopefully I can get some money from those. So far it's been great, just put some new rubber on the volans, heater core ordered, and a few hoses replaced.

Good luck with your new toy! If the car is basically sound, I don't see the issue. I don't see why it is any more complex than a T-5 or LPT car. Some of the parts are more expensive, but compared to a V70R with P80 AWD it is not that complex. If I buy another old Volvo at some point, that is what I will be looking for. Definitely not another AWD P80 for sure!

As far as maintenance goes, a T-5R *is* just a T-5. No parts are more expensive.
