I messed up and took off the timing belt without putting marks on the cam gears :,( I saw your thread on doing cam seals and lined up the two rear sides of the cams like you had pictured when the tab broke off. My cams are both close to where I believe they were but the adjustable part of my exhaust and intake cam gears are not in the center (cam gears appear to be adjusted) the belt isn’t lined up with the teeth when the cams are lined up in the rear (don’t have locking tool but used marks on the cam position sensor trigger) I guess my main question would be do I need to advance/retard each cam the same amount as the cam gear is adjusted in order for the belt to line up? Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

A short answer is yes. The cam is spring loaded when belt is on; taking the belt off moves the cam to its resting position. You do not decide how much to rotate, it is preset by design.

Curious about this recommendation, why would you use red loctite? I noticed you said the same thing in your really nice compilation of VVT hints viewtopic.php?t=100439.

I think of red loctite as only for (1) permanent fasteners that you basically never expect to remove again, or (2) fasteners that are really easy to access with a torch and under high stress. But neither applies here, these are all low torque, hard to access, and regular maintenance items.

I could see using blue loctite if you want to be doubly sure nothing comes loose.
