I found one from '98...but is a 10v car.
https://www.vindecoder.pl/YV1LW5102W2502993

Scroll down for decoded VIN.

Will it work in 20v car?

I know that U.S market didn't had 10v cars....but i hope that Canadian or Australian members could help me out with this.

I found and installed s,v70 cluster into my 850 today.
Everything works....but SRS light won't turn on with key in posII along with all other little lights.
I thought...ok....burnt bulb....replaced the bulb and it still won't come on.
Checked for SRS codes and got code SRS-127(SRS warning lamp OC or SC to ground).

Looks like somebody tried to mask the problem with SRS(deployed airbags or something).

So....my question is.....can this code prevent the airbags from functioning?
If it does....i'll remove the cluster(again) and take it to specialist to solve this problem.

If it doesn't affect SRS system functionality...i'll leave it alone...for now(untill i wold have some extra time).

Pictures are comming.

This has been debated here, hotly.

We don't have access to the SRS source code, so no one really knows if the light represents a disabled condition or not

On VW, it does not.

Here are the pics of S,v70 cluster into '97 850:

And here is Vol-FCR SRS scan result:

The problem is abscate...that the light is probably disabled on the circuit board by previous owner.

SRS light is not illuminating with other little lights when key is in pos.II and that is the only SRS code, because of the cluster.
It's not showing any kind of problems with SRS system, but i'm worried can a DTC for SRS warning light OC(open circuit) or SC (short circuit) to ground disable SRS system.

The cluster came from the Volvo junkyard.

The code can be written to shut off SRS on any fault but we just don’t know if that is the case or not.

Short of getting someone in Volvo to tell us, we won’t know.

I put back the original cluster until i figure out how to solve the issue with SRS code for warning light i'm getting with s,v70 cluster.

I'm not risking to drive the car with possible disabled SRS system.

SOLVED!!!
In order to have properly working SRS warning light and no SRS 127 code stored in SRS system, you just need to add a wire from ignition switch(x-supply,yellow violet wire)to connector "B" on pin B5.
B5 is spare in '96 & '97 850.

That's all.

I guess that this topic title should be re-named in s,v,c70 instrument cluster in '96 & '97 850.

Ozark Lee wrote: 14 Feb 2019, 07:45 There is a difference in the speed sensor setup between the early and late models. The early models with the speed sensor on the transaxle have a sine wave output. The later models have the square wave pulse train that is generated by the ABS wheel sensors and, after being routed through the ABS module, it feeds the cluster. Both systems use the same frequency / axle revolution.

Using a newer cluster in an older car is pretty easy, just tap a wheel sensor and you then have the square wave that the cluster wants to see. Using an older cluster on a newer car falls into the "I don't know" category since I don't know how the circuit actually works. If it is just counting pulses once they get over a voltage threshold then it really won't care what form the signal comes in as and an older cluster should work fine. If I were designing that circuit that circuit I would use a comparator with a mid point threshold on the sine wave to essentially convert that sine wave into a digital signal but I didn't design the circuit and I've never tried using an older cluster on a newer car.

...Lee
Thread kickoff of the century, what do you mean by "tap" a wheel sensor?

Splice into front abs sensors wiring.
