I found that Partswise Direct in Australia has pistons. PW16002 is 38mm rear, though I haven't confirmed every measurement. After seeing prices to ship from UK and DE, I didn't bother asking about AU.

454cid found that caliper pistons are easily available on RockAuto. That ended my global wild goose chase for them. I haven't tried the RockAuto ones yet.

Also in that thread, amblerman posted a great caliper rebuild.

btw. When I bought my caliper rebuild kit seals, they came with the 2 orings for the caliper halves.
However, the kits I bought claimed they did not come with those two orings.

instead I bought them from here:
