Fixed. Put in a third cbv, swapped out the short hose between the ote pipe and the turbo, and put in a new hose from the cbv to the manifold. Boosted like it should and held like it should.

Also replaced the faulty ABS module while I was in there.

That is great news! Must be so satisfying to get to the root of the issue with a little guidance and a lot of hard work and persistence on your part! Well done!

Very much so. I wish I had gotten it right the first time, but I will take it. And I can swap out a cbv in 30 minutes now, so if you need tips, just ask.

So now I have done the following : new jewel headlights, new hoses throughout, new front and rear brakes, pads, rotors and calipers, rebuilt the turbo, led lights throughout, new O2 Sensors, new transmission mount, new torque mount, new AC blower, Snabb intake pipe, pcv system, R gauge cluster, R front bumper (to match the R motor and interior) and two sets of wheels and tires.

Guess I'll keep it!

CBV = Compressor Bypass Valve (round thing on the turbo that house the spring loaded diaphragm - hose leads from it to the intake manifold)

TCV = Turbo Control Valve (also referred to as the boost control solenoid by some).

Seaway is not actually changing the CBV, he is removing the cover on the CBV, opening it up and switching the membrane in and out.

A torn CBV membrane is super common now to see on any of these old turbos, it is one of the first places to look when boost is limited.

TCV is mounted to the airbox.
