Very nice. I wonder if it has the invisibility to thieves -- because it's double-DIN height -- that the OEM radios have.

Like some of the slimmer Pioneer's I'm not sure if this has a button to disengage the faceplate or not- if it did, this would truly be a nice unit for about $250...maybe even cheaper on eBay.

That thing looks like like a VCR from 1985 that should be flashing "12:00" :) . If you really don't want to look at the pocket you could just get a head unit with the flip up screen, install the pocket on the top din, the screen will cover it. IMHO the Alpine digital media receivers are way better anyway. Some say "But there's no CD slot..." What's a CD?

No removable faceplate on the Pioneer, but it's in there flush and tight.

I installed a Dual XHD6425 HD Radio in my V70XC last week(there are about ten receivers on the market with a built-in HD Radio tuner). In addition to the HD Radio tuner, it has MP3/WMA playback on burned discs, a detachable faceplate, a USB port for flash drives, a front 3.5mm aux-in jack, 2 sets of RCA preouts, a IR wireless remote, and bluetooth capability with a $50 add-on module(which I also purchased and installed at the same time).

I am able to send/receive phone calls FROM the car radio and the phone conversation is broadcast thru the car speakers. I can also stream MP3s from my Windows Mobile phone to the car radio wirelessly via Bluetooth.

The radio and bluetooth module could be had for around ~$150 shipped.

Tell us what you did to get it to work with the Volvo head unit. I know there are a few options but wondering what you did.

After going through this thread, I was unable to get the answer I need.

Installing a Sony Explode stereo in a 97 850R. Have both the dash kit and wiring harness. Only issue is, speakers are wired through the factory amp so, no sound.
Talked to the "tech" at Best Buy. He said that the amp HAS to be by-passed. Is this true?? Seems like a waste and BS to me.
