Fix a Volvo flip/switchblade key - DIY, pics and advice

It takes a lot of time and patience. Once the halves are separated you will see how plastic is holding into the capsule. I took a sharp box cutter a scraped away plastic once layer at a time. It took hours. Always cut away from the capsule, not towards. Just incase you slip. There was minimal to no epoxy in mine.

After reading this thread for my 2006 S60 Flip Key...

Too much work to cut into 2 halves, and fix it for ~ $30...
I decided to fix it the "ghetto" way.

All you need is some "door rubber cushion, the soft type".
You can find at any hardware store.
This is the stuff you put on door frame so when you close the door at home, it is quiet.

Cut a small piece and wedge it as shown.
To open the key, simply use your finger nail to take it out of the closed position...

Not a perfect fix but it works for me...
