Vida Fan Module Check Engine Light 08 xc70

Post by nmacc »

Hoping the forum braintrust can help.

Driving the xc70 and engine stalls - check engine light comes on. P0172 P0175 (generic scanner).
Replaced MAF, MAP, and Fuel Pressure sensor. Car now drives great but light comes back on.

I then connect it the Vida/dice setup to further investigate. Read the codes (a ton are stored from a dead battery 3 months ago), clear everything and start over. Immediately a P048000 (Fan 1 control circuit) comes up. 6 months ago I replaced the fans/module with an autozone part (I needed it quick) and haven't had any overheating issues, regardless I:

- I put in a new OEM $$ fan module and same thing. P048000 followed a few cycles later by P0172 P0175.
- Traced the signal wire for the module and found nothing wrong.
- Removed and cleaned all the grounds under the air box.
- Cleaned and checked battery terminals and voltage.
- Checked any fuses related to fans/ecm. All looked good.

Here's what frustrating. Everything works. Car starts and stops, no stalling, no overheating, no other electronic issues.
VIDA sees the fan speed and can activate them to run at desired speed.
When the AC is on the fans are on. When the AC is off they run when temperature gets to about 208F.

I'll chase anything at this point. P0480

Pull the ECM and clean the connectors. It might just be false detection due to a faulty connection.
