Meyle HD not so HD
I was replacing the blown out sway bar end links on my V70. Unfortunately while torquing the new Meyle "HD" links down with the ratchet before the torque wrench, the stud snapped off. Could tell something didn't feel right. Glad it wasn't while I was on my way to the alignment.

Nothing would happen...except a loud bang it would make when it would fall of the strut or sway bar.
Car would be driveable.
Alignment after sway bar link replacement?!
Unless you touched the tie rod adjusting bolts...no alignment needed.

It is weird, in your picture it looks like the threads are a different size? Probably just an optical allusion. How tight did you get it? They don't have a huge torque on them, can't recall it off the top of my head.
If you have not done any other work on your front suspension, and only replaced the end links, then you should not need an alignment as Misha says. If you replaced tie rods then yes.

Sorry for clarification, I was also doing tie rods at the same time. I saw varying torque specs from 40 to 60 ft-lbs. I don't think it even made it close to 35.

Torque is 50NM or 37 ft/lb for end links.

Don't get thrown off by the Euro-centric crowd; those are NM numbers. 30-35 ft/lbs is the number I've seen elsewhere here, and goes without saying there should be no side load on the stud during installation - get things lined up before tightening the nut. The stud needs to be in tension before it gets loaded.
There is a torque chart floating around the 'net - and repeated on MVS - that has several errors along those lines.
