98 V70 T5 - performance upgrades?

Post by songzunhuang »

Having just completed a head rebuild on my venerable T5, I happened to come across this recent BAT auction.

Now my head is spinning. Hmm, what next?

Keep it classy. You've got a lovely wagon as it is.

Nothing more fun than a " sleeper ", which that one most definitely isn't.
The only problem I have found with performance upgrades, is knowing where to stop.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

LOL, I was just pondering. I wouldn't do any of the exterior things. I was more thinking about engine upgrades.
However, at this time the red wagon is my daughter's daily so I'll leave it alone for now.

I refreshed the bumpers and many other areas in my "garage booth" in late 2021. This picture is just afterwards.

turbo
tune
downpipe
exhaust
(and their various dependencies)

Song, those are the four basics that have the best ROI, for when you do get around to this performance project. Here's a fun read by our own BMDubya: Base V70 performance upgrade.

I'd even say a tune, exhaust/dp, intercooler, new tcv and vac. hoses is enough for a lot more fun.
A tune will make the biggest difference, the rest is more for durability and additional gains.

I think most important is to make sure the car is running right, that makes a lot of difference whether it is tuned or not. Measuring 0-60 time is my way to see if it performs to spec, shouldn't be much off.
