Is there a way to disable the ignition other than detaching the camshaft position sensor?

I just completed installing the head and the rest of the surrounding pieces (it took 3 hours to install the PCV banjo bolt):x. I'm about to start the engine and want to oil prime it first. To disable the ignition system, the Haynes handbook recommends disconnecting the camshaft position sensor. Is there a way to disable the ignition other than detaching the camshaft position sensor?

You are in the wrong forum, but a general suggestion would be pull the fuel pump fuse. No pump + no fuel. Haynes suggestion works if the plug is easy to access.

No need to oil prime it either, especially if you use assembly lube on the relevant surfaces.

Just check timing by turning over by hand twice.
