1993 850 Fuel and engine light flashing

I posted in the past, but was not sure what lights were coming on. I have an intermittent problem where the fuel light and either the check engine or the service light flash on and off for a few times and then stop. There is not constant situation that causes it so I can not figure out what is causing this. They are not flickering, the two lights flash on and off a few times.

The fuel light being involved is an intersting twist but there seems to be a rash of the instrument clusters that are beginning to fail with the flashing service light syndrome. The repair procedure has been to either pull out the service light and forget about it or replace the instrument cluster.
