Bad Shutter In Reverse

My 1999 V70XC makes loud and hard shutter when put into reverse. Heard this can be caused by bad motor mounts or are we looking at transmission problem? Thanks TJG

Try checking your transmission mount under the car. It looks like this:

See if it has excess play trying to wiggle it all directions or if there is evidence of the rubber falling apart. If so, that would probably be a good place to start.

Also, when was the last time you had a transmission fluid change?

Transmission mount okay and the fluid changed 11,000 miles ago. Seems like engine has hesitation problem under load now noticing slight shudder when going up hill. Could this be engine problem or transmission problem?
