Radio issues

I keep having this problem when the temps drop: I installed a Kenwood receiver last year...clean install. Since the car was 'new to me' at the time, I haven't a clue if the following happened with the orig radio, as I installed the radio as soon as I got the car. When the temps drop below 32F, when you start the car, the radio does not come on. I have to go the fuse panel on the side of the dash and remove and re-install fuse #10...a 20A fuse that says "Audio". The fuse is not blown, but taking it out and putting it back in solves the problem. I did this all last winter whenever the car was cold...drag.
Any clues?

Cold... condensation forming on fuse socket metal bits?
Cold... bad connection at fuse block, made worse because cold makes metal shrink?

I'd find an empty fuse slot, move the audio wires to that slot, and move the fuse to that slot.
See if the problem is related to that specific fuse position.


Many moons ago, I bought several used 240 Wagons for employee use, each time answering an ad for a "For Sale, As Is, Wont Start" Volvo. I would turn the key, and listen to the engine crank, but not catch.

I would pay the price being asked.

I would then both replace the fuel pump relay with a spare, and open the fuse panel just forward of the driver's side door, and spin all the bullet fuses one revolution around. I would then start the car, and drive it away from the suddenly perplexed and slightly angry seller, following whoever was driving the car in which I had arrived. I loved my 240s. They were truly the Volvos that one could not kill.
