1998 V70 HVAC control panel will not shut off

Just when I thought I had all squaks repaired this week end I have a new and wonderful problem. When the car is shut off, key out the HVAC panel stays lit. Fan will operate in manual mode but not in automatic. No other electrical gremlins observed. All dash switches work when they should. where do I start????

The radio, sunroof and windows will also operate with the key out of the ignition.

Ignition switch is goosed.

Can someone confirm that the plastic black cap should remain on cover the pins, then remove switch the separate the pin cap with cover from the switch?

Yes it should. Be very careful or the pins will come out and I can't post official schematics to show you where they are supposed to go. I do think I scribbled out a schematic to get around the Volvo legal department but I would need to find it.

Anyone who is not a moderator can post them but not Matt or a moderator.
