95 850 T5R Evap canister missing

Post by bil745t »

The evap canister has fallen off our car. The photo shows what was hanging just above the ground. I don'y want to replace with new if possible but whether new or not, I'm having trouble determining which canister is a correct replacement because there isn't much left to go on and because of the emissions code on the vin #. The code is "1".

Does anyone have any idea how important the emissions designation is? There are several: 0, 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6.

Would anyone have a part number for the canister that belongs on this car?

Thanks, Bill

The best I can tell from Vida for a 1995 T5R running a B5234FT motor there is only one choice of canister and its part # is: 9135101. This looks like it was used on most turbo 850's from 95-97. I'm not 100% on this as it shows it fits my 2000 'R' and that is rubbish as my car and all AWD S/V70's I believe have their filters fitter at the rear. Certainly mine does and it is rectangular and not round. Part number should be correct, but to be 100%, check using the VIN# and ask your dealer to confirm the part #.

The emissions designation is the 8th character in your car's VIN:

http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/199 ... n1995.html
'95 854 T-5R, Motronic 4.4, 185k
'98 V70, T5 tune-injectors-turbo, LPT engine, 304k, daily driver
'06 S60 R, 197k
'07 XC70, black, 205k
'07 XC70, willow green, 212k
'99 Camry V6  153k

I just pulled the evap can off my 96 850t donor car while doing a tranny swap. If you want a used one make an offer. The stupid things are over $200 new!

850TurboTurtle - I'd be interested if the emissions code on your donor car vin # is 1 and if the hose connections look like what is shown in photo.
