95 850T Hack to remove a stuck fuel pump locking ring

I couldn't get any tool to go down into the recessed hole to grip the ring, the local auto stores had nothing for me, and I was breaking off teeth from the ring using the hammer and wood block method, so I figured out a way to get it loose using just regular tools we all probably have.

Metal handles pliers, large mouth vice grips, and a pry bar of some kind. The video makes it clear. Worked like a charm.

I use the vice grip type oil filter wrench. It is still awkward but it works.

For me these worked a lot better coming in from above, ie using them as the video here uses the handles of the steel pliers.

That's probably what most reasonably intelligent people do, but I had to do a lot of yelling at my car before I got it figured out, so I thought I'd share the tip.
