2004 V70R Manual Tranny Pass. Side Axle Can't Find

Post by mrboogaty »

Forgive me of this is posted somewhere but i cant find anything on it.
Where on earth is everyone getting passenger side axles for a V70r Manual tranny? It is like trying to find a real life unicorn.... I cannot force myself to pay close to $800 at ipd or at the dealer when all other axles are $60, I have checked all the major stores i can think of. it does not exsist. This is my plan tho...let me know if you think it will work.
I think the difference in the manual and auto tranny axles is the length of the solid shaft from the tranny to the cup of the first cv joint, I ordered a axle for an automatic and according to the specs everything is the same with the exception of the total overall compressed length, so im going to take the joint apart and put everything back in my old shaft and see if it works.

Not sure if the splines on the ends differ at all. Did you find specs for that anywhere? I have looked into axle pricing for my 2001 T5 Manual and it seems that most places only show the driver's side. FCP Euro lists one for $570 and Tasca shows one for $521. They are listed as rebuilt genuine parts.

I was trying to avoid the insanely over priced $600 axle but I had to bite the bullet and order one from the dealer. All i need is the inner bearing cage where the 6 balls reside. I ordered a $70 axle for a 2004 V70R AUTO to swap but unfortunatley the parts are different inside.
Who rebuilds CV joints?? If i can find a bearing cage I would be good.

Not sure who can help you with a rebuild in WV. I called Raxles in Florida to see if they did anything with the P2 Volvos but they don't. As for replacement axles, did you try Tasca or Volvo Parts Lisle? They seem to have the best prices on OEM stuff.
