Hello,

I just bought a 2002 v70 xc and there appears to be some coolant leaking from the back of the engine compartment at a fairly decent rate. Like I have to refill the coolant reservoir after approximately 2 hours of driving. I can see the coolant puddling up on the "floor" of the engine compartment. If I give the radiator hoses a squeeze they feel pretty soft. Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem.

Welcome Mason

The coolant lines run on the back of the engine ( technically the right side, as its facing sideways) and there are several places where hoses can leak, split, drip fluid.

Emptying the reservoir in 2 hours is a fast leak and needs to be dealt with. These cars don't like to overheat and a few minutes running hot will visit you 1500-2000 in repair bills.

If you do need new hoses, use Volvo OEM only, the aftermarket stuff can be really junky and suitable only to get months of extra use of the car.
