98 V70 FWD Clutch/Transmission

Post by cuhfs »

Hi. I have removed clutch and removed the 10 bolts for the flywheel. Can't seem to figure out how to remove flywheel. See picture where I am at. First time doing this. Any trick to getting flywheel off? Please advise. Thanks

Pry it off? It's only holding on by the rust...

Thank you. Problem resolved. Pried it off. It was on real good. Used a tool to persuade it to come off.

Elephant of a job! Hard to say exactly how long to get to this point because I took small bites at a time going slow. My guess is 8 - 10 hours. so far
Here is how I broke the task down to bite sized pieces over two weeks done as follows. So far this has gone very easy. Not busted nor rusted bolts or stripped anything. Maybe because I have previously R&R steering rack and axles not that long ago...

SO far no regrets!

Basic steps were
Day 1
1.)Jacked and secured the car up pretty high. Supported engine from above.
Removed external slave Cyl.
Day 2
2.) Pulled Axles
Day 3
3.) Dropped Starter and Sub-frame
Day 4
4.) Detached Transmission
Day 5
5.) Removed Clutch and Flywheel.

Waiting for parts now then will reinstall new ones.
