V70 motor swap? Topic is solved

I have a 2002 V70 X/C AWD w/ 2.4T and automatic tranny. Can I switch the motor from a 2002 V70 into the V70 X/C? Both are 2.4T.

Can the automatic transmissions be interchanged. I know the AWD sections will not, but are the basic transmissions interchangeable?

Yes. That car has no electronic AWD so dropping in the whole 2.4T engine/trans package will work and operate on the existing control modules. You can re-use the LH front cv axle to wheel but the AWD right side cv axle is not going to work with a FWD trans seal and will leak. If you get the RH cv axle with the eng/trans then you can do the whole transplant. Remove the driveshaft that runs from angle gear to rear and you're done.

Great option for my Cross Country. I live n So Cal and may not need AWD. Picking up 2 V70's as parts cars and a spare drive train would be nice!
