Hello fellow Volvo owners!
So I have a 1998 Volvo V70 GLT wagon that is AWD and automatic. A few weeks ago it started not to shift correctly from 1st gear into 2nd gear. The shift light came on in the dashboard and started flashing as well as the 3 button lights at the bottom of the shift console (S button, E button etc). I pulled over and called AAA to have the car towed to my local shop. The shop did not find any other code errors. The shop installed a new PNP switch as well as performing a transmission flush and they took my car for a test drive and it's still not shifting.
I have read many topics about the PNP switch issue when they go bad. I figured the PNP switch in my Volvo went bad because of the symptoms I have read about with a faulty PNP switch.
I am curious if anyone here has had the same issue as I am having and if so, what solutions did you come up with to correct the shifting problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Installed a new PNP switch. Still not shifting.

If you have a Android phone or tablet, Get 850 OBD-II and a good ELM327 OBD-II interface (1.4b onwards) and scan the car yourself. It does sound to me like the shop was just guessing and did not have a scanner that could read the codes.

usually the PNP switch produces a code gong from park to drive, first to second would be another issue maybe with the shift solenoids
that sometimes unstick on their own but you have to clear the code for them to try again. take the battery terminal off if you dont have any thing else to use to clear the code and try again.
