sorry to revive an MAF question Topic is solved

I have a 2001 v70 T5. I have found so far, four bosch numbers for the MAF, and even conflicting information about what will fit - one site says the same number fits, yet another says it won't and a person whose opinion I respect says neither and offers a third number. So what MAF should i get for my car?

Go to the Volvo part website , put in your VIN, and find the Volvo part number there

Buy from a place you can return, or one of our supporting vendors

Avoid eBay and Amazon, riddled with counterfeit stuff

Haw! I wish it was that easy - The official Volvo parts website lists three for my car when using the VID lookup...

My 2001 V70 T5 had Bosch PN 0 280 213 088 from the factory. When the MAF went out, I did some research and found that the key PN is the actual sensor. Of course, to get to the actual sensor, you need a Torx T25 (or 20) tamper proof bit to remove the two screws. Once you've done this, you will find the sensor PN is a Bosch F 00C 262 064. This sensor is in a number of different MAF PN's.

I eventually pulled a MAF from an XC90 at a Pick-N-Pull (Bosch PN 0 280 218 108). It had the same actual sensor PN as the "088". So you may have multiple options if you can't find an "088", you can always confirm the actual sensor if you have the tamper proof torx bit.

May as well use some locking pliers for those safety torx screws. Weird choice of screw on the turbo engines, non turbo came with regular philips ones.

Thanks - I am close to a parts yard, and there are several Volvos there to pull from, including two 2001 70t's each with different MAF numbers...

I know about those safety torx screws, having fought them on my previous 850, and I have some pliers that do a good job of grabbing the flange. Much appreciated.

Your 2001 uses the same MAF as my 1999

It’s the Bosch 2218208

Problem solved and thanks for the tip on the sensor itself. Yep, the housing may have a different number but the sensor itself was the same. And no doubt its in some other cars, too, besides Volvo. A couple of things I learned in the process - the smallest size vice grips are perfect for grabbing the edge of the safety torx screws to get them out. The jaws have a flat edge and they can grab on well. And look for the sensor that has the cleanest leading edge. I pulled three that were dirty, before I found one that was clean and apparently recently replaced.
