I have yet to find a thread that directly addresses a broken hood release that is in the engine compartment. How does one go about getting the hood latches to release? Do I need to take off the radiator, front bumper, grill....?

Did the ball end pop off at the pull lever?
Or did the plastic on the pull lever crack, rendering the pull cable & lever useless?
Yes, hell of a design. Easily fixable though, just time consuming. $36 for new cable, ~$7ish for a new pull lever if yours broke.
