Selling my 1997 850

Post by Craigd2599 »

Hey gang...
After 5 years of faithful service I am selling my 1997 850.
This is my sixth Volvo, my fourth 850. She's not pretty, but she's straight, rust free, has a black interior with, surprisingly, no tears or "potato chips" in the leather seats. Heated seats still work. Engine runs good and trans shifts great, Just did timing belt, tensioner and idler. Have oil trap parts and have not installed yet. Car has "Pica" wheels, which vaguely resemble the Volens on R models. Only car I've ever seen these on. They're a nice change of pace from the usual five spoke.
The car is mechanically sound …but she needs some love. The headliner is mostly gone. The sunroof leaks in heavy rain. (Probably drain channels plugged) The rubber sleeve that connects the gas filler to the gas tank is cracked and if you put more than 3/4 tank of gas in it, it runs out on the ground. (Not a hard fix but I have vertigo and crawling underneath cars is, sadly, off limits to me now). The SRS light won't go out, so it won't pass Virginia inspection. The car had been in an accident and has a "total loss" title. This is NOT the same as a "Salvage" title. The frame was never bent from what I have seen when we've had it up on a lift, but the engine cradle was bent. They should have replaced it but they just straightened it. The car tracks dead straight and never wears out tires in an uneven fashion. The AC quit last summer. Needs to be replaced. It's NOT the clutches, something popped on the highway and the Freon dumped out. I've included pictures. This is definitely a project car but not some clapped out bucket that doesn't run. Sort of in between. A "Volvo guy" would have an easy time getting this back to stage 0. Asking $750 Pictures attached
