Re: 1995 855 Gas Cap replacement
I bought one of those newer style caps too. I used the upper door hinge screw to attach the tether.
Later on, I found an original hook-style cap in great condition at the junkyard, so I removed the newer style cap and tether and switched back to the old style.

Re: Heat blower motor not working
I have tested blower motors after removing them from the car using a 12V battery charger. You can set the motor up on a table and apply power to it to see if it runs smoothly.

Re: Inner Tie Rod Manufacturer
I have a '97 850, so my experience may not apply to your '98 V70, but I had good luck using Volvo OEM inner tie rods. I wrote up a short DIY guide here:

Re: Rollover Valve
I think the rollover valve is designed to close when the car is tilted or upside down. The closing prevents liquid fuel from the tank from escaping through the vent tube, which could happen when the tank gets tilted or flipped upside down in an accident.

Re: DIY: 1998 Volvo V70 Front Bilstein TC Strut Tips/Tricks
Just wanted to say I love this write up. I used it 8 years ago to replace the front struts on my 850, and I'm about to use it again. While re-reading it, I noticed that the link to the "heeeeee" write up in the first post is no longer available. I found copies of the images and text here a...

Re: Volvo 850 T5-R on wheelers dealers
I enjoy Wheeler Dealers too, and like some I too miss Edd China. I noticed during the episode that a few of the parts in the 850 (as would be expected) had been replaced, such as the coolant expansion tank (which looks nice and clean) and the upper engine mount at the firewall (which is the newer st...

Re: New to me 850 turbo sedan
It sounds like the engine runs OK when at higher RPM and not under a heavy load, but it doesn't idle smoothly or run smoothly when under load. Does that sound about right? There could be more than one cause of the symptoms. I agree with the above suggestions to check the fuel pressure (to address th...

Re: Windshield Washer check valve repair
The in hose is connected to the L shaped fitting that goes into the bottom of the check valve. This is the end opposite the red plastic cap that you pry off to replace the diaphragm.

Re: LED code reader/ECC help
Sorry to hear you're having trouble getting the codes to read. What is the resistance value of resistor you're using? Which pins are you plugging the code reader into? I got good results with the circuit shown below, plugging the switch between pins 5 (GND) and 6 (ECC) and the positive side of the L...
