Re: DIY: Coolant Flush ---> Quick Method via Upper Hose...
... Agreed, never use 50-50 mix when you're trying to hit a known concentration. 50-50 is a gimmick product only useful for top-up between coolant changes. My recommendation is to never buy it. ... 50-50 pre-mix coolant is not a total gimmick, it's more costly than concentrate so it does improve pr...

Re: Sudden complete electrical loss '05 V70 n/a
I have checked all of the connections I have found, no looseness or corrosion. I think it is important that the electricity did not reduce, it shut of like a light responding to a wall switch. There are some heavy-duty fuses near the battery, 40-50 amp fuses, 11E/4 and 11E/5 supply the CEM, I'd che...

Re: AC condenser replacement
2008 S60 2.5T, 240k Over the past year, I've had to refill my AC refrigerant several times. It would last for a few weeks, but that's it. Took it to my local import (mostly Volvo) specialist and they detected a major leak at the condenser. Had it replaced for $1400 out the door. Just sharing this e...

Re: RHF axle support bearing source? - 02 XC70
I have come across this thread for a while back that covers the same type of question: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52432 The dimensions of the bearing are the same as the P80 bearing and P3 version using the above part numbers?? Dimensions: 45mm x 75mm x 19mm wide. From...

Re: Early P2 2.5T Transmission issues vs later MY
As stated, the 2 main issues were Volvo told owners the trans were 'sealed for life' so no need to change the trans fluid. Now they recommend every 50k miles. The 2nd issue was the auto-neutral as vtl mentioned above. The auto-neutral had a software update to remove it to stop issues with it. Now w...

Re: Early P2 2.5T Transmission issues vs later MY
In other discussions of this here I think we settled on a 2001 failure rate of about 10%. Looking at a used car, to paraphrase legend Jim here (RIP) , if it’s a 2001 , test drive it amd make sure it shifts perfect. "test drive it and make sure it shifts perfect" This is great advice and m...

Re: Boot, CV joint, or axle?
firstv70volvo - That staked area keeps the inner ball bearing carrier in? Yes, I think they do this for handling the axle before install and during installation to keep the tri-pod end from pulling out of the inner cup, no function once the axle is installed. The tri-pod roller bearings are contain...

Re: ETM interchangable, Magneti marelli, S60 2.0T
I rebuild the ETM as it was creating several codes related to faulty ETM, and throwing it into limp mode. The engine had a rough idling and strange lambda sensor readings (reading extremely lean at idle, actually running super rich). After rebuild is it still creating error codes, and limp mode. EC...
